Weekend Juneteenth Celebration Focuses on Building Business, Stimulating Community Revitalization

THAPgroup presents The Black Wall Street Experience & Business Expo

Tampa, FL – June 5, 2019 – The Tampa-Hillsborough Action Plan, Inc. (THAPgroup) and it’s 5508 CoWorking & Collaboration Exchange is hosting a two-day Juneteenth weekend experience focusing on entrepreneurship, community revitalization, and youth education via The Black Wall Street Experience & Business Expo. The weekend experience on Friday & Saturday, June 14-15, 2019 reflects on pivotal and impactful moments in African American history and creates avenues for stimulating community conversation and forward economic development in East Tampa. The full weekend event will be held at 5508 North 50th Street, Tampa, FL 33610.

On Friday, June 14 at 6PM, the community will experience an evening mixer and dinner social alongside the premiere of The Black Wall Street Stage Play – an introduction to the compelling history of the 1921 Attack on Greenwood, a flourishing black community in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and an emphasis on strengthening business, commerce, and homeownership in our town.

Saturday, June 15 events include a 9AM Entrepreneurship & Real Estate Panel Breakfast featuring nine experts who will share advice on entrepreneurship, real estate investment, and sustainable business practices & community development; an 11AM free to the community Small Business Expo centered on highlighting small and minority businesses in East Tampa and featuring the Shops of 5508, food trucks, culinary chefs and arts, retailers, beauty artists, health and wellness experts, financial managers, technology experts, and live music; a 2PM youth & student matinée of The Black Wall Street Stage Play; and a 7PM encore of The Black Wall Street Stage Play to round out the weekend.

We invite the community to take part of the experience – from the stage play (3 showings) to a breakfast panel on entrepreneurship and real estate investment to the FREE community small business expo. This year’s Juneteenth event is the kick-off to an annual occurrence focused on highlighting impactful moments in black history and a continued commitment to helping small businesses in East Tampa chart a path to business success.
